GD or conference could be a significant part of the choice process. There's lots of myth happening around the conference. Letโ€™s observe the parameters on which you're judged in a very GD.

General Awareness

Only speaking something will not help you or speaking multiple times also will not help. So kindly do not speak for the sake of speaking. You just need to speak for 2-3 times and each time with a duration of up to a maximum of 60 seconds, that too with a valid point with some stats or data. It will be like the cherry on the cake if you could also provide a source of your data while presenting your points.

Listening Ability

This is the most important key point sorted after speaking as presenting your point is important and listening to what others say is also crucial. You should give your ears to them as this will also be observed by the judges whether you are giving importance to othersโ€™ ideas. The main idea behind a group discussion is to check whether you will able to fit in a group or not. Collect points from the candidates and provide meaningful inferences out of it instead of arguing as it is not a debate.

Speaking skills

The major factor in the whole group discussion which every panelist will look for is that what sort of impressive words you use and how confident you are while communicating and how easy it is for others to grasp your points. Communication does not mean using some fancy words or some American Slang. They are here to see whether you are able to communicate your thoughts properly or not among a group. Do not speak like a native English speaker by changing your accent. Just be yourself, who you are and act natural.

Attitude & Body Posture

Judges within the panel would also observe how the candidates are walking, sitting, keeping his/her hands, etc. and plenty more so as to test how confident one is and what type of attitude one possesses. Together with this, the dressing sense is additionally observed. The candidate should wear formals or business formals and also ensure to present himself/herself in a very neat and clean manner.

Management Skills

After all, since you are you there for a Management Admission process, hence you must have an attitude and flair of a Manager, by either starting the GD with blasting facts and points or ending it with a soft note.

Conclusion

Initiator and closer of GD mostly have the favourable position but this doesn't mean that these two people are shortlisted for the next round. In simple, these two people have a little advantage compared to other candidates.

In general, in GD, three things are taken into consideration while evaluating. First is your communication skill, secondly, your confidence while presenting data and content and thirdly, your team management skills as how you give importance to your GD team members within the whole GD process round.
