Students’ Speak: Parameters Taken Into Account For Assessment During Personal Interview?

The interviewer first checks your confidence and other skills but at the end eventually, if you don’t have the basic knowledge about the job for which you are applying then you may fail to get the job.
A Personal Interview is an interview in which only one applicant is interviewed by one or more than one interviewers to understand the knowledge, mentality, and way of thinking and confidence of the applicant. A personal interview is one of the major ways to understand the basic knowledge about the person like his/her abilities and capabilities.
Types of Personal Interview:-
- Unstructured informal interview- This type of interview is completely informal and is not controlled by a particular set of questions.
- Structured standardized interview- In this interview there are specific questions about a particular topic.
- Depth interview- Depth interview is an interview in which the interviewer asks various questions from different topics to understand the personality of the applicant.
Parameters taken into account for assessment in PI:-
- Confidence- Confidence is one of the major criteria for every interviewer to grab basic knowledge about the applicant because your confidence shows your attitude, way of thinking and your mental stability. So to perform way better than others in any interview you should devote the required time for building your confidence.
- Body language- Your hand movements, motion of fingers, facial expression and movement of legs are some attributes that indicate your body language and show how you are dealing with your nervousness and anxiety. Using your hands while speaking is generally considered to be better but using them a lot might not prove very useful for you.
- Eye contact- Keeping eye contact with the interviewers for a moderate amount of time will surely specify your self-confidence but if you just start staring at them constantly it will create an awkward situation.
- Knowledge about the job for which you are applying- No doubt that the interviewer first checks your confidence and other skills but at the end eventually if you don’t have the basic knowledge about the job for which you are applying then you may fail to get the job. Having the knowledge about the job indicate your passion towards the job and your time devotion for the preparation for that personal interview.
There are some more parameters that you need to work upon in order to perform well in a personal interview:-
- Skills (speaking, listening, leadership)
- Team spirit
- Way of presenting your answers
- Adaptability in the culture of the company
- You should be resourceful
- You should not be high maintenance
- Your problem-solving ability
So, these are some parameters or you can say criteria on which you are going to be judged in a personal interview, so you should surely devote some time for the enhancement of these skills to grab your dream job.
