CBSE Board Exam 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the linking of APAAR ID will be mandatory for students willing to appear for the CBSE board exam 2026 from classes 9 to 12. Students have to mandatorily create the APAAR ID from the academic year 2026 onwards. Further, the authorities have revised the examination fees and the CBSE exam 2025 registration fees for candidates willing to appear for the board examination. The board has revised the CBSE exam fees for students in India, Nepal and other foreign countries. Meanwhile, the authorities will establish an AI-powered digital experience centre to improve the accessibility of educational material.
During a governing body meeting, CBSE decided that schools must link studentsβ APAAR IDs to their records in order to have access to the documents. This will be required when registering students in Classes 9 and 11, and when preparing the List of Candidates (LoC) for Classes 10 and 12. Schools have been told to collect APAAR IDs from students before the registration process begins.

APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) is a unique 12-digit ID created by the Ministry of Education under the βOne Nation, One Student IDβ plan. It is an initiative for keeping the documents safe digitally. It gives each student a lifelong digital academic identity, storing all their achievements and records in one secure place through DigiLocker and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
