CBSE Board Exam 2025-26: The Central Board of Secondary Education has extended the relaxation for students with basic mathematics to study mathematics in Class 11 for this academic year as well. However, the Board has suggested that the school heads ensure that only those students are allowed to pursue mathematics in Class 11 who have the ability and aptitude for the same.
βBefore permitting Mathematics (041) in class XI to such students, the Head of the Institution/School should satisfy that the students have the aptitude and ability to pursue Mathematics (041) in class XI,β the notice reads.
Meanwhile, the Board has also informed that the decision will change with the implementation of the new scheme of studies based on the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE). It further clarified that no change in subjects will be allowed once the subjects are filled for the List of Candidates (LOC) for CBSE Class 10 board exams. It stated, βThe schools are requested to pass on this information to the parents/students to take appropriate action accordingly. However, once the subject is filled in LOC, no change will be permitted later on.β
According to CBSE norms, only those students who have studied mathematics in Class 10 are allowed to take up mathematics in Class 11. However, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Board first introduced the exemption and extended it further in the last three academic sessions.
