The Board introduced the second shift in order to conduct examinations within the stipulated dates and to ensure sufficient preparatory leaves between certain papers.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the CBSE date sheet 2021 for 10th, 12 on February 2 at 5 pm. The CBSE 10th exams 2021 are set to be conducted between May 4 and June 7 while CBSE 12th exams 2021 are scheduled between May 4 and June 11. This year, the board, for the first time, has scheduled Class 12th examinations in double shifts i.e. morning shift from 10:30 and to 12:30 pm and afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. All Class 10th exams, however, will be conducted in the morning shift only.
From introducing double shifts to an increased gap between important subjects, to a reduction in exam calendar days, the Board has tried to be innovative this year. CBSE’s controller of examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj told that the biggest challenge for the board was to keep proper gaps between papers. “We did not want anyone to say that students of Science got a better deal or certain important papers were too close to each other. So, a lot of planning went into all these things,” he said.
The Board has scheduled only optional subjects in the afternoon shift. No mandatory paper is scheduled on that day. Teachers who’ll be working in the morning shift will not be given duty in the second shift, to ensure that there is no additional burden on them, Bhardwaj informed.
