With schools in the state still closed amid pandemic situation, the prelims or pre-board exams will be held either online or will be put on hold for the moment.

Maharashtra State Education Board will conduct the pre-board examinations ahead of the Maharashtra HSC. SSC board exams 2021 either in the online mode or will be putting them on hold for the time. This comes as the reopening of schools is not in sight due to COVID19 pandemic.

Maharashtra schools resumed physical sessions for classes 9 to 12 in November and for classes 5 to 8 in January. However, the authorities are yet to give a nod on the reopening of schools. With the increase in the cases for the last few days, it seems the opening of schools will be further delayed.

The BMC allowed schools to hold prelims or practicals if mandated by the educational boards. While no boards mandated it, a few schools in the city are calling students in small batches for the purpose. Some schools have also scheduled offline prelim exams in March and are collecting consent forms from parents. “We are keeping our schedule ready and the paperwork to hold the prelims as soon as the civic body allows us,” said another principal.

The Board had released the tentative exam schedules for Mah HSC and Mah SSC on February 16 on its official website. The exams are scheduled in April and May. Principals of schools are worried as a large number of students, approximately 30 lakh, appear for the Maharashtra board exams and that it would be difficult to accommodate them in their schools. Another cause of worry is that with schools shut, it will be difficult to conduct the practical examinations before the theory exams.
