Students will be taught about techniques like app usage, machine learning, data processing, the internet of things and sentiment analysis.

Madhya Pradesh start teaching Artificial Intelligence to school children, the course will be launched in 53 EFA (Education For All) schools soon. Minister of State Inder Singh Parmar informed that from this session AI will be taught as a subject in 53 EFA schools in the state.

Last year Shivraj Singh Chouhan's government announced that school students will be taught AI, beginning with EFA schools. In the AI course, students will be taught about techniques like app usage, machine learning, data processing, the internet of things and sentiment analysis.

“Students will be taught to use AI technology creatively and towards human welfare. This course will prove to be very useful,” said the Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) and General Administration Inder Singh Parmar during a workshop on the Artificial Intelligence curriculum in EFA schools of the State Board of Open School Education.

Parmar informed that from this session AI will be taught as a subject in 53 EFA schools in the state. Students from classes 8th to 12th will be able to study it as a subject and prepare themselves to compete at the national and international levels.

The minister said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state where AI will be taught as a subject to the students. He also informed that Microsoft will provide 240 hours of AI curriculum for classes, 8th to 12th class. Also, for one year, teachers from Microsoft will teach AI subjects in schools. Mathematics and physics teachers in schools during this period will also be trained to teach AI subjects.

Abhay Verma, Commissioner of Public Instruction said that AI is the need of the hour. It is such a tool of software that in the coming times will be known as Another Brain. He said: “Considering its importance, it has been decided that in class 10th and 12th board, candidates will be able to take AI as an optional subject.”
