Odisha will follow the instruction issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct the board examination through the conventional written mode.

Odisha Board Exams 2021: While there are a lot of speculations regarding the conduct of the upcoming board exams, Odisha Mass Education Minister S R Dash on December 3, 2020, made this clear that  Odisha 10th and Odisha 12th board exams 2021 will be conducted via the offline mode on an extended schedule instead of its usual dates, i.e. in February and March. The minister added that Odisha will follow the instruction issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct the board examination through the conventional written mode.

However, Mr Dash clearly stated that the tests will be delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situtaion. The minister said the School and Mass Education Department is considering reopening schools for students of Class 9 and onwards, and Odisha Class 10 and Odisha Class 12 board examination can only be held after a minimum of three months of classroom teaching. "We will take a decision keeping the students' interests in mind as per COVID-19 guidelines," Mr Dash added. The Odisha Government has said in its December guidelines that educational institutions under control and supervision of the department can reopen for Classes 9-12.

Meanwhile, a CBSE official on December 2 confirmed that it is yet to take a final decision on CBSE Class 10 date sheet and CBSE Class 12 date sheet for next year. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) official also stated that CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams will be conducted in pen and paper mode and not in online mode.
