Odisha Government to reduce School Syllabus: According to the latest update, Odisha Government decided to implement syllabus reduction for school students in the near future in the wake of the ongoing pandemic situation. The School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in a recent interaction with a national level media agency confirmed the decision. With schools closed for the past 5 months, completion of the school syllabus for all the classes that too in online mode is a major challenge highlighted by students, teachers and parents. Taking this challenge into account, the state government is looking at curtailing the syllabus to reduce some burden on them.

As reported earlier, the news about the reduction in the overall school syllabus was confirmed by the state education minister. Various media reports state that reduction will be applicable for both secondary as well as higher secondary schools for both BSE Odisha and CHSE Odisha, as planned by the government. Speaking to a reputed media source, Samir Ranjan Dash said, "We are working on the issue of syllabus reduction for students. Though no decision has been taken yet on how much it will be reduced, a clear picture is likely to come in a couple of days."

While talking about the quantum of the syllabus that will be reduced as part of the overall plan of the government, Mr Dash added that the exact percentage by which the syllabus would be reduced will be decided on the basis of the reopening plan shared by the central government. The School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash added, β€œIt’s time to wait what guidelines are issued by the Centre, and then the state government will take a decision after reviewing the COVID-19 situation. The percentage of reduction can be ascertained only after the dates of the reopening of schools are decided.”
