Reopening schools this year is impossible to some extends. The assistant education officer of Kerala while talking to the media confirmed that reopening schools amid such ongoing serious situations due to the novel coronavirus outbreak is almost impossible. In order to prevent any academic loss, the state government is trying its best to impart education using different modes such as television and the internet.

In order to make up the academic loss, schools and colleges are conducting online classes. But not all students have access to the internet or have smartphones. To assist these students with learning opportunities and facilities, the state government decided to arrange online classes at anganwadis and libraries for students coming from economically weak backgrounds. The officer said, “Poor and backward students don't have smartphones so they come to such centres.”
