The WBBSE Class 10 state board exams commenced on February 10 and are scheduled to continue until February 22. Earlier, WBBSE President Ramanuj Ganguly had clearly stated that carrying electronic devices, including mobile phones, inside examination centres would be strictly prohibited.
Violation of Exam Protocols Leads to Disqualification
According to a statement released by the WBBSE, two students from Gobindapur Kalicharan High School were caught with mobile phones at the exam venue of Mathur Jatiram Memorial High School in South 24 Parganas. Additionally, a third student from Hindi High School was found with a mobile phone at Dalkhola Girls High School in Uttar Dinajpur.
In Coochbehar, another student from Ila Devi Girls High School was caught carrying a mobile phone during the exam at Tufanganj Nirpendra Narayan Memorial High School. A further incident was reported from Uttar Dinajpur, where a student from Chakulia High School was disqualified for tearing up their answer script during the exam at Gandal High School.
Strict Guidelines for Electronic Devices in WBBSE Exam Centres
The Class 10 state board exams commenced on February 10 and are scheduled to continue until February 22. Earlier, WBBSE President Ramanuj Ganguly had clearly stated that carrying electronic devices, including mobile phones, inside examination centres would be strictly prohibited.
As per Ganguly’s instructions, students are required to deposit their phones and other electronic devices at the entrance of the exam venues. Only two designated officials at each centre, responsible for running the exams, are allowed to retain their devices. Any student found with a phone or caught hiding a device will be disqualified for that day, with their gadget being confiscated.
Ensuring Exam Integrity and Discipline
The WBBSE’s move to enforce these rules highlights the board’s commitment to ensuring exam fairness and preventing malpractices such as cheating. With the continued use of mobile phones in exams posing a significant threat to the integrity of the examination process, the board has issued stern warnings to both students and invigilators alike.
The board also emphasized that the disqualification for one day would have serious consequences on the student’s overall performance, especially given the significance of the history exam in the Class 10 syllabus.
The West Bengal Board's decision to take stringent action against students violating exam protocols signals the importance of maintaining discipline during Class 10 exams. With mobile phone usage being a major concern in academic assessments, students are reminded to adhere to the set guidelines to avoid disqualification and ensure a fair examination process.
