JEE Mains 2026 Registration Live Updates: New Rules, Mistakes to Avoid, Documents Needed

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main 2026 application form at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date for JEE Mains 2026 session 1 registration is November 27, 2025. The application process involves registration, form-filling, uploading the documents and payment of fees. 

The JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam will be held between January 21 to 30. This time, the authority has changed the JEE Main registration 2026 process to streamline the application process, like live photo capturing and Aadhar/Digilocker verification in the application form.

New in JEE Main 2026 Registration

All candidates must have updated copies of the following documents before they start the JEE Main 2026 registration process:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • UDID Card (for Persons with Disabilities)
  • Category Certificate

 This year, it is mandatory for candidates to verify their identity through Aadhaar or DigiLocker while registering for JEE Main 2026.

JEE Main 2026 Application Process

  1. Step 1 is to register. Candidates must fill in the various details requested on the registration window and create a password of their choice to complete the registration. Once the registration is complete, candidates will get their system-generated JEE Main 2026 application number.
  2. In step 2, candidates have to fill in the application form, choose exam centres and capture a live photo with a webcam or mobile camera by scanning a QR code.
  3. Step 3 involves uploading the documents like a live photo, a scanned photo, scanned signature and a scanned copy of Identity Proof (for those candidates who will verify their identities through methods other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker).
  4. After this, candidates can proceed to step 4, which is payment of the application fee using Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  5. In the last step, candidates have to download the acknowledgement form, which will be generated after the successful submission of the JEE Main application fee. Download this form and keep it safe for future reference.

    Initially, NTA released the information brochure for JEE Main 2026, stating that the exam will have an on-screen calculator. However, on November 2, NTA clarified that the use of calculators in any form (physical or on-screen)is not permitted in the NTA JEE Main exam.

    The revised Information brochure of JEE Main 2026 has been uploaded, and NTA has recommended that he candidates should download and go through it again.
