JEE Mains 2026 Registration Live Updates: New Rules, Mistakes to Avoid, Documents Needed

Yes. Candidates who have passed the class 12 boards in 2024, 2025 or those who are appearing in 2026, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2026.

There is an increase in JEE Main exam centres this year as compared to last. This year, total number of JEE Main 2026 exam centres is 323 compared to 299 last year. 33 new centres have been added.

Candidates will be given rough sheets at the JEE Main 2026 exam centre. These rough sheets provided to the candidate will be collected by the invigilator and destroyed by shredding after the conduct of the exam.

Here is how to apply for JEE Mains 2026:

1. Register using details asked: Name, parents' / guardians' name, date of birth, gender, address, email ID, and phone number
2. Next, fill in the application form with more details asked and choose the exam centre.
3. Upload love photo and scanned images as needed.
4. Pay the application fee.
5. Download the acknowledgement form.

Candidates have to fill details in the JEE Main 2026 registration form as printed on the Class 10th Passing Certificate / Marksheet issued by recognised School Examination Board.

While setting the JEE Main 2026 password, candidates have to make sure that:

• Password must be 8 to 13 characters long.Password must have at least one Upper case letter.
• Password must have at least one lowercase letter.
• Password must have at least one numeric value.
• Password must have at least one special character (!@#$%^&*-)

No. Candidates will be allowed to apply for JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam (April 2026) separately using the same application number as session 1. A separate notification will be issued for this.

NTA will give an option to solve this issue in the application form of JEE Main itself.

No. NTA has clarified that the 'on-screen' calculator was a typographical error. No calculator will be allowed in the exam (physical or on-screen).

The last date to complete the JEE Main 2026 registration is November 27 by 11:50 pm.

• A scanned copy of Class 10 or Equivalent Certificate/Marks-sheet should be in PDF format between 50 kb to 300 kb (clearly legible).
• Scanned copy of Identity Proof (for those candidates who will verify their identities through methods other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker) should be in format JPG/JPEG between 10 kb to 200 kb (clearly legible).
• A scanned copy of Disability/UDID certificate should be a PDF between 50 kb to 300 kb (clearly legible).

NTA has clarified that the on-screen calculator in JEE Main 2026 mentioned in the initially released brochure was a typographic error. No calculator will be allowed in the exam, physical or on-screen.

The scanned image of the signature should be in JPG/JPEG format (clearly legible) and between 10 kb to 100 kb.

Candidates have to upload a scanned image of their recent passport-size photograph. The photo should be:

• Coloured with 80% face (without mask) visible, including ears.
• against a white background.

Initially, NTA released the information brochure for JEE Main 2026, stating that the exam will have an on-screen calculator. However, on November 2, NTA clarified that the use of calculators in any form (physical or on-screen)is not permitted in the NTA JEE Main exam.

The revised Information brochure of JEE Main 2026 has been uploaded, and NTA has recommended that he candidates should download and go through it again.

This year, some major changes have been made to the application process of JEE Main 2026, like:

1. Live photo capturing
2. Verification using Aadhaar and Digilocker
3. Automatic verification for PwD details from the UDID portal.

In the JEE Main 2026 application process, candidate will have to upload their live photograph. Also, they will need to upload their scanned images of photograph, Signature, Class X or Equivalent Certificate/Marks-sheet and PwD/PwBD Certificate (wherever applicable).
