The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the class 10 and 12 board exam dates for session 2026. As per the official schedule, the 10th and 12th board exams will begin on February 17, 2026. The CBSE exam Class 10 2026 will be conducted between February 17 and March 11, 2026, in pen and paper format, while CBSE class 12 board exam 2026 will be conducted from February 17 to April 10, 2026.
CBSE Introduces Changes for Board Exam 2026
This year, the board has introduced several changes in line with the NEP 2020. The latest changes in CBSE board exam 2026 including bi-annual exam in class 10, increased competency-based questions, new sectional answering rules and mandatory attendance benchmarks for students. The board aims to provide a learning experience to students without burdening them with a curriculum.
CBSE Exam Structure 2026 Revised
The CBSE exam structure has been reformed for class 10 students. CBSE has introduced Two-Attempt System for Class 10 students. The first mandatory phase begins on February 17, 2026, with an optional second phase in May 2026 for those wishing to improve their scores
What’s New in CBSE 2026 Exam Pattern?
The CBSE exam pattern 2026 will have competency based questions. As per the pattern 50% of questions will be competency based, 20% objective type and 30% will be constructed response.
New Changes in CBSE: Mandatory Marking & Section Rules
The Class 10 Science and Social Science papers now will have CBSE mandatory subject segregation. Answers for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (Science) with History, Geography, and Civics (Social Science) must be written in the designated sections. Answers found in the wrong section will not be evaluated.
- Meanwhile, the board has mandated 75% attendance for all board students. The internal weigtage now contribute to 20-40 percent in the total scores.
- Further, the registration of students is now mandatory through the Pariksha Sangam Portal where each student will have a unique APAAR ID for digital academic tracking.
