IIM Jammu to recognise CA Qualification as Equivalent to Master’s Degree for PhD Programme

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu has recognised the qualification of Chartered Accountancy (CA) under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) as an equivalent to any Master’s degree.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu has recognised the qualification of Chartered Accountancy (CA) under Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) as an equivalent to any Master’s degree from a recognised institute/college.

The president of ICAI, CA Prafulla P Chhajed stated that the qualification of Chartered Accountancy (CA) under Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will be considered equivalent to master’s degree for the purpose of applying or pursuing a PhD programme in IIM, Jammu. Chartered accountants who aspire to pursue a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programme in IIM, Jammu, can now apply using their CA qualification as a master’s degree.

Talking further about the recognition of CA qualification, he stated that with this recognition, a total of 104 universities, 2 IITs (Bombay and Madras) and 7 IIMs, (Total 113 Universities/Institutions) have now recognised the qualification of Chartered Accountancy for taking admission in Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programmes.

The CS qualification has also been recognised as equivalent to any master’s degree by Visvesvaraya Technological University of Belagavi, Karnataka, Patna University, allowing many members of ICAI to enroll themselves under PhD programmes. Chartered Accountancy course of ICAI is being recognised and accepted not just in the country but also globally from both professional and academic perspectives. He also informed that ICAI is constantly signing MoUs and entering into new MRAs with international and foreign accounting bodies with acceptance of CA qualification abroad.
