IIM-Visakhapatnam begins fresh faculty recruitment
IIM-V director, Professor Chandrasekhar informed that the B-school currently has 32 faculty on rolls with the best student-faculty ratio among the seven new-age IIMs.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Visakhapatnam, has commenced the recruitment process for fresh faculty. Keeping the vision of a permanent campus, IIM-V has aligned this new recruitment process as a move towards specialisations in management programmes, and to offer sector-specific training programmes. According to TOI, IIM-V director, Professor Chandrasekhar informed that the B-school currently has 32 faculty on rolls with the best student-faculty ratio among the seven new-age IIMs.
While talking about the new faculty recruitment process, Professor Chandrasekhar told TOI, “The institute is getting several enquiries for the training programmes from reputed public sector banks, PSUs and other organisations. To meet the demand, the institute has started the faculty recruitment process in specialisations in management areas like applied econometrics, micro-economics, fintech, product and brand management, investment banking, inventory management, etc. Considering the agrarian economy of Andhra Pradesh, agriculture and water resources will also be a focus area in recruitment.”
Meanwhile, the development work of IIM-V’s permanent campus is on track and is expected to be ready by the next academic year. According to TOI, Professor Chandrasekhar said the hostels facility available at the permanent campus can accommodate 300 students per batch. “This will give scope for the institute to increase its annual intake. New management disciplines are evolving with the changing business environment and technology-enabled innovations. IIM-V also wants to diversify its offerings—both in terms of academic programmes and training programmes,” said Prof Chandrasekhar.
The management institute is planning to hire about eight to 10 new faculty in emerging areas in this recruitment. The idea behind hiring new faculty is to harness expertise in areas such as health and nutrition, amid the ongoing pandemic situation and collapsing healthcare system.
