For admission to MBA (or PGP) 2024 batch at IIM Visakhapatnam, the CAT test will be conducted on November 26, 2023. Aspirants of IIM Visakhapatnam are required to appear for the exam in Computer Based Testing mode at the allotted test centres. CAT exam 2023 will be held in three slots:

Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM

Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Evening slot: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Earlier, the CAT exam used to be of 180 minutes with 100 questions but in 2020, both exam duration and number of questions were reduced due to COVID-19 pandemic. Now, starting CAT 2022, the total number of questions stands at 66 as part of CAT pattern.

Like any other IIM’s the admission to IIM Visakhapatnam is entirely based on CAT scores. Candidates have to follow the CAT admission procedure. Whereas, for courses like PGPEX, PGPDGM & PhD application can be directly submitted through IIM Visakhapatnam official website. Followed by shortlisting of candidates for the interview. The institution do provide financial support to the candidates pursuing PhD in any specilisation.  PhD Program students in good standing will receive a stipend of INR 30,000 per month in the first year with a 10% annual increment up to a maximum of five years in addition to tuition fee waiver.

To apply for the CAT exam, candidates are required to create an account, fill the CAT registration form and pay the exam application fee. The 2023 CAT form have to be submitted by a certain deadline after which no application will be accepted. For 2023 CAT exam, CAT registration will go on between Aug 2 and Sep 20. The  candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience after their qualifying degree. Applicants require a valid CAT, GMAT, GRE score to be considered for admission. Alternatively, applicants also can choose to apply for PGPEx by opting to take IIMV Test. Finally, the selection process for PGPEx at IIM Visakhapatnam is based on the candidate's academic qualifications, work experience, statement of purpose, and performance in the personal interview round.
