Anna University directs faculty to work from home until further notice

Owing to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, the Anna University has directed all its faculty members to start work from home, until further orders. Anna University also said that the semester classes will be held through online mode during this time period. 

Anna University made the official announcement regarding the same after the Tamil Nadu government had extended the lockdown till April 30, 2021.

The official statement from Anna University reads, “With reference to the G.O. and Govt. Letter, the Government of Tamil Nadu has instructed to strictly adhere to the guideline. Professors of colleges/ universities shall be permitted to conduct online classes from home”.

It has been informed that the teaching staff members of Anna University, Regional campuses and constituent colleges, affiliated and nonaffiliated autonomous colleges of Anna University are permitted to conduct UG, PG and PhD classes through online mode from today; April 20, till further notice, the notification stated.

Despite the strict instructions by the Tamil Nadu State government, it has been observed that many colleges were allowing their faculty members to operate in dual mode. Meanwhile, Anna University semester exams are scheduled to be conducted in May 2021. The University decided to allow students from all semesters except the final to refer to the course material online or offline while writing the examination.
