COVID-19 Impact: Mizoram University Undergraduate Examinations 2020 postponed

With the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country, the Mizoram University (MZU) has announced that it has postponed the undergraduate examinations slated to start from today, i.e. August 10. The varsity took this decision following appeals by student bodies and Mizoram Principals Council to postpone the exam due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.

The varsity made the announcement regarding the same on Sunday, i.e. August 9, 2020. “All Undergraduate semester examination scheduled to be held from August 10 to 14 stands cancelled, in view of the present situation due to COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown imposed in certain localities in Aizawal. The examinations will now be held from September 13, 2020,” the varsity said in a statement.

The examination for professional courses like LLB, BSW, and BOA examination will also not be conducted from August 10 to 14 and will be held later. However, there is no change in the conduct of examination in respect of MCA and BCA, which will be conducted as per the scheme from today, i.e. August 10, the varsity said.

Two apex student bodies of Mizoram, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), and Mizo Students Union (MSU) on Sunday asked the Mizoram University (MZU) to postpone the upcoming UG degree examinations following the rise in Coronavirus case in the state.

In a letter addressed to MZU vice-chancellor, MZP said that it does not believe that it is in the best interest of the students to sit for the university examination slated for August 10.
