Students of Delhi University head to the polls today to elect a new Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), with promises on campus safety, hostel facilities, free Wi-Fi, and gender representation dominating campaigns. The contest between the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), and the SFI-AISA Left alliance has turned this year’s election into a race centred on everyday student concerns rather than loud rallies.

Bond Controversy: Delhi University has come out with a new rule requiring election candidates to deposit a refundable ₹1 lakh bond has drawn protests from candidates. ABVP’s Delhi state secretary Sarthak Sharma called it “undemocratic and exclusionary, preventing ordinary students from participating.”
Campaign Conduct: With tighter enforcement of Lyngdoh Committee rules, this year’s campaigns saw fewer noisy rallies and defacement. Instead, the debate has shifted to issues like safety, transport relief, and hostel availability.

A third-year Kirori Mal College student, Mayank Singh said: “This year manifestos actually talk about Wi-Fi, hostels and safety. We’ll see if they keep these promises, but at least these issues are being discussed.”

CUET UG counselling process schedule is announced by the participating universities after the declaration of CUET results. The process will be conducted separately by the universities and it will not be a centralised counselling system. The CUET 2026 counselling process will have the following stages:
- Each participating institute will release its individual rank list of candidates who are eligible to participate in the counselling process of CUET 2026.
- Candidates will have to register online and then appear in online counselling followed by offline counselling.
- Upon seat allotment, candidates will have to pay the admission fee and report to institutes to accept the admission offer.
