The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced the admission process for the various undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses offered at the University. Candidates belonging to SC & ST categories, and willing to take admission in IGNOU can breathe a sigh of relief as now they are not required to pay the admission and readmission fee.  

According to a statement released in a leading daily, “The IGNOU has decided to exempt admission and readmission fees for the scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) students for the admission of certificate courses, under graduate courses and post graduate diploma courses.” 

The University has also launched the following three new certificate course from the coming academic session beginning in July 2018: 

  • Certificate in First Aid
  • Certificate in Tribal Studies
  • Diploma in Event Management

It must be noted that students belonging to SC & ST categories and availing any kind of fellowship of fee exemption from other agencies cannot avail the benefit of fee exemption. Candidates willing to get enrolled in any courses including the newly introduced certificate courses can get in touch with the regional centre of their respective cities.

Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria of the programmes before applying. Also, it must be ensured that the application form is filled carefully. Incomplete/ forms having incorrect information will be rejected by the officials. 

Aspirants must also ensure that they fill and submit the application form before the deadline. Entries received after the deadline will not be entertained by the authorities.
