IGNOU Admissions 2020: IGNOU sets new limit on maximum period of academic programmes

According to the latest update, IGNOU students enrolling themselves under any PG programme must note that they have to now finish their postgraduate programme within the maximum duration of four years.

IGNOU Admissions 2020: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) reduced the maximum duration of completing Post Graduate programme by one year. According to the latest update, IGNOU students enrolling themselves under any PG programme must note that they have to now finish their postgraduate programme within the maximum duration of four years. Earlier, the maximum duration of finishing a postgraduate course was five years. IGNOU also put a limit on the maximum duration of Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma programmes.

However, there is no change in the maximum duration of completing undergraduate programmes. The minimum duration to complete UG programme is three years and the maximum duration is six years. In the first week of October, the varsity decided to withdraw the re-admission scheme, and hence there is no provision of re-admission for any candidate whose course is completing within June TEE 2021.

Meanwhile, IGNOU also announced that it will be celebrating its 35th foundation day today; i.e. November 19. Owing to the ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country, this year the varsity will be conducting the event virtually. V. Muraleedharan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs will be the chief guest of IGNOU’s 35th foundation day.
