Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Global industrial technology company Rolls-Royce have joined hands for research work. According to the statement released by one of the premier industrial technology company Rolls-Royce, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M). The MoU has been signed between the two for joint research programmes.

The company has also revealed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will also benefit the engineers of Rolls-Royce. Under this MoU, some of the engineers working in Rolls-Royce will be sent to IIT-M for higher education. Under this association, the company and the technology institute also aim to pursue advanced research in areas of relevance to future technological and programmatic needs of the company.

In partnership with IIT Madras, Rolls-Royce has decided to sponsor the higher education of selected employees. Employees interested in pursuing Masters and PhD level studies would be benefitted from this MoU as a part of Rolls-Royce’s Technical Higher Study Framework.

However, such employees will have to go through a qualifying process. To qualify the programme, employees have to clear the selection process of IIT Madras. The topics chosen by these employees must be aligned with Rolls-Royce strategic research priorities and capabilities.

Rolls-Royce has made this programme available for all of its permanent employees at the Rolls-Royce Engineering Centre in Bengaluru. Employees who have completed 36 months of service with the company are eligible for the programme. According to the statement given by the company, the initiative has been taken to promote growth and career progression for its engineering talent.
