Research scholars of the faculty of engineering and technology, and faculty of natural sciences and its associated centres are being allowed to use the laboratory facilities from March 1.

Jamia Milia Islamia has allowed research scholars of engineering and natural sciences departments to return back to campus from Monday; i.e. March 1 for laboratory work. However, the return of students solely depends on the approvals from the concerned varsity authorities. 

In a circular issued, the JMI said, “Research scholars of the faculty of engineering and technology, and faculty of natural sciences and its associated centres are being allowed to use the laboratory facilities of their concerned departments and centres on seeking prior appointment and permission from the respective deans of their faculties through their research supervisors with effect from March 1.”

Earlier, the JMI students have staged a protest outside the campus here demanding the reopening of the varsity which has been kept closed since mid-March last year due to a coronavirus outbreak and to prevent its spread. The varsity administration, however, maintained that a decision in this regard will be taken by the Executive Council (EC) after consultations with all stakeholders. The students raised slogans demanding that the varsity should proceed with the phase-wise reopening of the campus like the Delhi University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Meanwhile, JMI University completed the summer internship placements for the first batch of MSc students. As per the official reports, the first batch of students of MSc in banking and financial analytics, Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI), recorded a 100 per cent summer internship placement this year. The course was launched by Jamia’s department of economics launched the course in 2019 with its first batch comprising a total of 42 students.
