Jamia Millia Islamia team bags second spot in aero design contest
More than 60 teams from various engineering colleges across the country participated in Aero Design Challenge-2021.
A team of seven students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has bagged the second position in ‘Aero Design Challenge-2021’.
The competition was organised by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India Southern Section (SAEISS) in ‘design’ under regular category. The competition is intended to provide bachelor/master/diploma students with a real-life engineering challenge. It has been designed to provide exposure to the kinds of situations that engineers face in their real-life work environment. Each team is required to conceive, design and develop a prototype of fixed wing UAV meeting the mission requirements.
More than 60 teams from engineering colleges all over India participated in the competition. The results were announced recently. The team was mentored by Prof SM Muzakkir, Department of Mechanical Engineering, JMI, in the design of fixed wing unmanned vehicle.
The SAE is a global leader that promotes development and progress in the auto-transportation sector. Congratulating the team members, Prof Najma Akhtar, Vice- Chancellor, JMI, said prize from such an elite society was a big boost to competence of JMI’s teaching-learning.
The JMI 2021 admission form submission window was closed on July 10. Currently, the university is conducting JMI Entrance Exam 2021 for 134 UG and PG programmes till August 28. Candidates will be able to submit the result of qualifying exams for JMI 2021 admission until September 30 in online mode.
