Jamia Millia Islamia admission 2023 started with the application process for CUET UG. Additionally, the university released its prospectus for 2023 admissions in March with the schedule for admission to courses accepting national-level and university-level entrance exam. Jamia Millia Islamia offers over 220 courses in both regular and self-financed modes. Additionally, the University also offers distance learning courses at UG, PG and diploma levels. JMI has entered into MoU with Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Coast Guard that permits the defence personnel to undertake degrees and diplomas through distance mode offered at CDOL in one sitting.   • What subject should one take CUET in? As per guidelines released by Jamia in 2022, candidates must take CUET 2023 only in subjects that they have cleared in Class 12.

Q. How to get admission in JMI? Is CUET compulsory?

A. Aspiring students are required to register on the official website of JMI and fill the application form online. In the form, fill all the details asked, upload the required documents and pay the application fee. Starting 2022, for BA, BSc and BVoc, JMI started accepting the scores of CUET UG. For the same, students need to register for the exam, appear for it and qualify it. Qualified students of CUET UG are required to register for JMI counselling after which merit lists will be released with the name of the shortlisted students. For the remaining courses, however, the university is still accepting national and university-level entrance exam for final selection. 

Q. What is the process of admission for PG courses at Jamia Millia Islamia?

A. The admission process of Jamia Millia Islamia is done in multiple steps. Candidates seeking admission via the national-level entrances are required to apply and appear for them and them fill out the application form for Jamia followed by that. Students who are seeking admission directly via Jamia Entrance Exam must apply for the entrance via the official website i.e., https://www.jmi.ac.in/.   • STEP 1: Jamia Millia Islamia Application Process 2023 | Jamia application process 2023 is conducted in online mode only. Candidates seeking admission need to visit the official website of the University to fill the application form, attach documents and pay the application fee. While submitting the application, candidates are required to make a payment of the application fee via credit card/ debit card/ net banking. The application fee once received successfully at JMI's end is non-refundable and no correspondence on this subject is entertained. The application fee details are as follows:

  • STEP 2: JMI Selection Process & Release of Merit Lists | After application, students are required to go through the course-specific admission process and selection rounds, such as the entrance and interviews. After all the selection rounds are over, a merit list will be prepared on the basis of students' performance. The prepared merit list is then released on the official website.
  • STEP 3: Final Admission Offer and Confirmation of Seats | Students whose names appear in the final admission offer are required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats. 

Q. Is admission to all master's degree courses at JMI entrance-based?

A. Yes, admission to all the postgraduate programmes is based on a valid JMI Entrance Exam score, followed by a candidate’s performance in PI round. A candidate must have more than 30% scores in the descriptive part of the entrance test to qualify for the interview. Additionally, those obtaining less than
15% scores in the Objective Type/ Multiple Choice questions are not shortlisted for interview/ admission. Candidates seeking admission can submit the online application on the official website i.e., www.jmicoe.in & www.jmi.ac.in and there is no printed application form for admission. 

Q. What is the last date of JMI entrance exam 2023?

A. The 2023 schedule for Jamia Millia Islamia entrance exam is out. The entrance exam will start taking place Apr 15 onward. For the same, students can fill out the application form between Mar 4 and Apr 3. In case students wish to make any changes to the application form, the same will open between Apr 4 and Apr 6. After that, the admit card will be out on Apr 10 and then students can appear for the exam. Any changes in the timelines will be updated here once out. All the students who will appear for this exam must note that the last date for submitting the qualifying exam result is Sep 30. 

Q. What is the procedure for JMI admission to a distance learning course?

A. For admission to any distance learning course at JMI, candidates need to download the application form from the official website of Jamia Millia Islamia. The duly downloaded and completed application form has to be submitted to the respective Programme Coordinator, CDOL, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi or selected Learner Support Centre. The application form has to be accompanied by an application fee in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Jamia Millia Islamia payable at New Delhi.” The application fee for all the distance learning programmes (except MBA & B.Ed) is INR 500, while for MBA and B.Ed programme, it is INR 700.

Q. What all documents are required for admission to JMI?

A. Scanned copies of the following documents are required while filling up the JMI application form:
  • Three passport-size photographs
  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheet and certificate (original and photocopy)
  • Graduation mark sheet and certificate (original and photocopy)
  • Character certificate from the Institution last attended (In original)
  • Migration/ Transfer Certificate from the last attended institution
  • Copy of the Aadhaar Card

Q. What is the reservation percentage for Muslim candidates at JMI?

A. Jamia Millia Islamia offers seat reservations in almost all the courses based on the category of the students. Candidates seeking admission under the reserved category can apply for reservation under one category only and are required to fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions of the course. More details regarding JMI reservation criteria are enlisted below:
  • 30% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for Muslim applicants. 10% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for women applicants
    who are Muslims and 10% of the total number of seats in each course shall be earmarked for (OBCs) and ST students who are Muslims.
  • 5% of seats in all the courses are reserved for physically challenged students.
  • 5% of seats in all courses must be filled by internal students of Jamia who have passed their qualifying exam from Jamia schools as regular students.

Q. Has JMI CUET-UG counselling started?

A. For admission 2022, Jamia Milia Islamia was accepting applications for CUET-UG counselling for undergraduate courses till Sep 26. The registration window closed as per the set schedule followed by the release of seat allotment results/merit list for different courses. For admission 2023, the application process for CUET UG took place between February and March and the further admission process will be conducted after the release of the CUET UG result (expected to be out in June. Stay tuned to this page for further updates on the same. 

Q. When will the answer key be released for the Jamia entrance exam?

A. The answer key of the Jamia Millia Islamia entrance test question paper (of multiple choice questions only) is uploaded on admission result page at www.jmicoe.in within three working days after the entrance test is over. The applicant has to submit their grievance/ challenge online for change in key within 48 hours after the key upload. The candidate is also required to pay fees of INR 500 per course to challenge the uploaded answer key. No grievance is entertained without fee payment.

Q. BA: Is BA available in Jamia Millia Islamia?

A. Yes, Jamia Millia Islamia offers a three-year BA (Hons) programme across 17 specialisations. These include Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Urdu, Persian, Hindi and History, among others. In addition to this, the university also offers a BA degree. Jamia admission 2023 for BA and BA (Hons) programmes are currently going on. Admission to both of these undergraduate courses is entrance-based. The university either considers the scores of CUET - UG or Jamia Entrance Test for admission to both of these programmes. Candidates seeking admission can apply online on the official website of the university i.e., www.jmicoe.in & www.jmi.ac.in as there is no option of submitting a printed application form for admission. 

Q. BA: Can I get into JMI for BA without CUET?

A. As per the CUET UG website, students seeking admission to BA at Jamia Millia must appear for and qualify CUET exam. However, since some universities are also considering other components while giving admission to CUET-UG based courses, it could be a possibility of getting into JMI without CUET. But, this being said there is no official information on whether the university will only consider CUET UG scores or other components as well for admission, it is tough to give the right answer. Students are therefore advised to reach out to the admission office for more details. 

Q. BA: What is the eligibility criteria for BA (Hons) at JMI?

A. Candidates seeking admission to Jamia Millia Islamia for BA must have passed Class 12 or SSC with a minimum aggregate ranging from 40-50%. The passing percentage is different for different specialisations offered in the BA programme. With an annual intake of over 900 students for BA and BA (Hons) programmes (including all the specialisations), admission to Jamia Millia Islamia for BA and BA (Hons) is subject to either CUET (conducted by NTA) or JMI entrance exam.  Till 2021, admission was subject to the JMI entrance exam across all specialisations. However, starting 2022, admission to a few BA (Hons) specialisations is CUET-based and for the rest, it is university-level entrance-based.

Q. BA: What is the fee of Jamia Millia Islamia for the BA programme?

A. The total tuition fee for BA and BA (Hons) programmes at Jamia Millia Islamia ranges between INR 20,100 and INR 45,000. This fee, however, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. Q. BA: What is the age limit for BA in Jamia Millia Islamia?

A. The top universities in India have set upper or lower age limits for admission to their courses. However, Jamia Millia Islamia has not imposed any such age restrictions. There is no upper age limit to appear in the JMI 2023 exam. However, candidates securing the same rank and marks in JMI exam will be given preference, if they are higher in age than the others.

Q. BSc: Does Jamia Millia Islamia University offer BSc programme?

A. Yes, JMI offers both BSc and BSc (Hons) programmes across four and five specialisations, respectively. The admission process for both these programmes is conducted through JMI entrance test and the final selection of candidates is based on their performance in previous qualifying degree exams, performance in the entrance test and seat availability. But before everything else, students must meet the minimum eligibility requirements set by the university which is passing Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate with a relevant combination of subjects, such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/ or Biology, among others. 

Q. BTech: Can I get direct admission to the BTech programme of Jamia?

A. No, the University does not offer direct merit-based admission to BTech applicants. Interested candidates need to qualify JEE Main Paper-I with a valid score to get BTech admission at Jamia. Additionally, to be admitted to BTech courses at Jamia Millia Islamia, candidates, who have filled out the online application form for JEE Main 2023 are also required to fill out the online application form of Jamia Millia Islamia at www.jmicoe.in. The application fee for JMI form for BTech is INR 550 which can be paid either by Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net banking. Before every other criteria, students must meet the minimum eligibility requirement for BTech at Jamia Millia Islamia which is to pass Class 12 with at least 55% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The education provided by Jamia Millia Islamia is good.

Placements: Top recruiting companies did not visit our campus. Our college provided average placements. Even in the previous year, most of the major multinational giants were out of business.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, vehicle parking, etc., were available. Our college provided excellent facilities. The quality of the food was average.

Jamia Millia Islamia -The college which is so welcoming.

Placements: Around 40% of students are placed in my course. The highest package of my course is around 8-9LPA. The lowest package was around 3-4LPA. After doing my course which is DCE you could apply for government job which will be secure and helpful for your future. The top role was Site Engineer.

Everything is very good in our college.

Placements: Many companies visited our college to recruit students, such as Byjus, Amazon, Gurukul, etc. The average salary package offered was 7.5 LPA. A student from our class got placed at Byju's. Around 50% of students got internships. It was the best college to do internships. There was a separate office for internships or placements. They created a WhatsApp group for students to update them.

Placements: The placement cell is active. The placement cell helps us with recruitment. Many top recruiting companies visit our college for recruitment. Around 5 students out of 32 students got placed in this course.

Infrastructure: The facilities are very good. The infrastructure is better. Digital classrooms are available. Laboratories are average. Reading room is available on campus.
