THE World University Ranking 2021: SPPU retains its spot in Times World Ranking
SPPU has been ranked one more time between 601 and 800 in THE World University Ranking 2021.
THE World University Ranking 2021: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has retained its ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking (WUR) 2021. In 2019, SPPU was ranked between 601 and 800. India has recorded the highest ever number of Universities to qualify for the ranking. A total of 63 Universities from India has qualified for the ranking, however, none of them could make up to the top 300. Among Indian varsities, the highest rank is occupied by IISc.
THE WUR 2021 has been announced on the basis of the performance of 1,527 higher education institutes from 93 countries or regions on several parameters including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. The rankings declared the list of top 1,000 universities.
The SPPU was ranked between 651 and 700 in the QS World University Ranking 2021 in June. The University was accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC and was ranked at 10th position by National Institutional Research Framework (NIRF) in 2019. It is a UGC-recognised University.
“The university has maintained its ranking from last year, this is the result of the hard work of a large number of researchers, professors and colleagues in the university. The university’s current ranking is between 600 and 800. We will try to improve and come up with a ranking within 600 by the next survey,” said SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar.
The University houses 46 academic departments, 12 faculties and 52 research centers. It has about 307 recognised research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges offering UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, PhD and certificate courses in 17 distinct fields of education. The University attracts many foreign students due to its excellent facilities. It also offers distance learning courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels.
