UP university unveils awareness programmes on CAA and Articlaa-370

A university in Uttar Pradesh has launched a special programme on the recently introduced Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) Allahabad has named the programme as “Awareness Programme on CAA”. The duration of the programme would be three months to one year and Rs. 700 would be the course fee, as per the official website of UPRTOU. It is also the only Open University in the state.

Apart from this, UPRTOU also provides another awareness programme known as “Jammu and Kashmir”. This programme mainly talks about Article 370 and its abolition. From Monday onwards, the registration for the programme has been started. However, it is yet to be made clear that how many persons have enrolled in the programme so far. Going by the university sources, there is no limit on the number of candidates enrolling for the programme.

There are a whole lot of awareness programmes provided by the university. A few such courses include Good Governance, Dairy Farming, Antyoday, Kumbh Darshan and Yoga. If we talk about its main courses, undergraduate, graduate and diploma courses are its pillars.

Before this, both CAA and Article 370 have been controversial topics. Since the introduction of CAA, there have been few protests going on in several parts of the country and a few universities. The government has been appealing to restore peace in such areas. Few universities including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamil Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University have been protesting against CAA.
