Anna University announces research grant in thrust areas for COVID-19 pandemic
Anna University has announced a short-term Research Grant in thrust areas related to coronavirus outbreak.
Anna University has invited project proposals for its short-term Research Grant in thrust areas related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Science and Technology will fund the project and the last date to submit the proposal is April 30, 2020.
The department will fund the following thrust areas preferably with multidisciplinary efforts:
- Antiviral Nano-coatings for materials which can be used on the material for producing anti-COVID-19 Triple Layer Medical masks and N-95 respirator or better masks in large quantities
- All components of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for safeguarding the health care workers against COVID-19 with industrial partners for scaling up production
Anna University has set the project duration up to 1 year and the maximum budget limit of Rs. 25-30 lakhs. This amount is for developing the nano-coating and new nano-based material for the components of PPE, which can be transferred to the partnering Industry or a Start-up.
The industry contribution can be in the form of manpower or its cost to company, or partly for testing of nano-coating to meet the European Union or the United States standards to export the developed product.
The proposals can be submitted on the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) website i.e. serbonline.in, in their Core Research Grant (CRG) format. The proposals received by the University will initially be screened for the competence of PI, suitability, and scope prior to peer-review. Projects will be evaluated on a first-come basis.
All the items which are developed and transferred to the industry should meet the International Standards or British Standards Institution (BSI) standards for ensuring the quality of the nano-coating based products.
