Students who have already applied to write the special exam can choose a centre for themselves through the web portal, coe1.annauniv.edu, by 5 pm today (November 18, 2021).

Anna University has released a notification for candidates who have exhausted their permitted maximum period and want to attend the special examination to be held during April/May 2022 and November/December 2022.

The notice read, “As approved by the Syndicate of Anna University in its 262nd meeting held on 16-02-2021, the students who have exhausted their maximum period of study as per their regulations have been permitted to appear for the arrear examinations as a special case during November/December 2021, April/May 2022 and November/December 2022.”

It further read, “The registration for the November/December 2021 examinations was completed as per the notification of the Controller of Examinations dated 23-09-2021. Further, the examinations shall be conducted in the following centres in offline mode and hence, students who have already registered only can login into student login page with registration number through the web portal https://coe1.annauniv.edu and select any one of the centres on or before 18.11.2021 by 5 pm. “

As many as 33 examination centers will be set up across Tamil Nadu to write the exam as a special opportunity. The selected examination centre will be final and will not be changed for any reasons, the university said and added that if the centre selection is not opted by a student, the office of the Controller of Examinations shall allocate any of the 33 examination centres given below.

The university has doubled the internal assessment weightage for awarding marks from 20 per cent to 40 per cent. As per the new regulation, theory courses with laboratory components will have 50%:50% weightage for end-semester exams and internal assessment. For laboratory courses, it will be  60% weightage for internal assessment in end-semester exams .

The new regulation also allows students to take a study break for up to a year for job or entrepreneurship and has scrapped a 2017 rule that mandated students to compulsorily complete arrears in four attempts. Students can also do up to two online courses in a semester against one course under current rule.

Meanwhile, the university is all set to hold the end-semester exams of  undergraduate  and postgraduate engineering students in the offline mode in  the  third week of December.
