GATE CSE Question Paper Analysis 2026: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati successfully conducted GATE 2026 Computer Science & Information Technology Shift 1 exam this morning from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. As students exited the exam halls, early reactions and memory-based feedback including difficulty levels, topic distribution, and overall exam has been provided here. Based on students feedback, GATE CSE shift 1 exam was moderate to tough, with conceptual and lengthy questions. GATE CSE shift 1 exam was mix of straightforward and concept-based questions.

Students found GATE 2026 CSE shift 1 paper to be moderare to difficult. Some said it was confusing. Engineering mathematics had 4 one mark question, maximum number of questions were asked from algorithm. General aptitude had 5 one mark question and 5 two-mark questions.

Q:   How to prepare for General Aptitude in GATE 2026?
A: 

Attempting all questions of GA in GATE can easily fetch you 15 marks. So, to prepare for general aptitude, start with knowing the syallabus. Start with topics that you find easy. Practice and keep a target of solving at least 30 to 50 questions a day- 20 questions (easy level), 20 questions (mid-level), and 10 questions (hard level). Increase this frequency slowly. 

Besides that, practice GATE old question papers to understand, what kind of questions are asked (under GA). Follow the same pattern and find similar questions to solve. If you keep up this frequency, then sure shot you will score full marks in GATE general aptitude. 

Q:   Who is the GATE 2026 topper of CSE branch?

The GATE 2026 topper will be released after the declaration of result. The authorities will publish the topper's list (AIR 1 ) of all 30 subjects.
