GATE Application Form 2026 Fees Revised: Here's what's new in GATE 2026 and more
IIT Guwahati has released the GATE 2026 exam dates, along with the official website. With the announcement of the GATE 2026 dates, the officials have revised the GATE 2026 application fees. Read below to know more.
The GATE 2026 application form will be made available on August 25 onwards. The mode of the GATE form is online and must be submitted on the given deadline dates. During the GATE online application 2026 process, candidates need to register themselves at the GOAPS portal, following the further process, such as filling out the personal, educational, contact, uploading documents, and payment of the application fees, and submission.
What's new in GATE 2026?
- The GATE 2026 has introduced a new paper under Engineering Sciences (XE), which is Energy Science. The paper code of energy science is I.
- The GATE 2026 application fees have been revised; the fees for SC/ST and female category candidates are INR 1000 (under the regular category) and INR 2000 for all other candidates. On the other hand, the fees during the extended period are INR 1500 and INR 2500, respectively.

How to apply for GATE 2026 online?
The step-by-step process to apply for GATE 2026 is as follows -
- Register - This is the first stage of the GATE application form filling. Candidates need to register using their email ID and password.
- Once the registration is completed at the GATE GOAPS portal, an enrollment ID will be generated and will be sent to the registered mobile number and email ID.
- Candidates will now have to use the credentials to log in at the GOAPS portal to complete the next stages of the GATE application form.
- Filling out the form - After logging in, candidates need to complete all the required spaces, such as filling the personal information, educational, two-paper combination selection list, exam centre choices, and uploading the documents (as per the specifications).
- Once the above steps are completed, candidates need to proceed to the payment section.
- Check the category-wise payment fees and make the payment using the convenient payment method.
- Confirm the declaration form and submit the application form.
- Download and save a copy for future purposes.
