The GATE 2026 admission process began. The GATE exam dates are out, followed by small yet significant changes in the GATE 2026 registration fees and the introduction of a new paper (Energy Science) under Engineering Sciences. The exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, and aspirants are already making smart moves and decisions toward their career goals.

Candidates can choose at least three exam centres while filling their GATE 2026 application form. The list of GATE exam cities (zone-wise) is available on the website. Besides that, it has to be noted that the three centres must be from the same zone. Thus, based on the availability, the centre will be allotted to the candidate for appearing the GATE 2026 exam.

The IIT Guwahati had released the GATE application form on August 28 at the GOAPS portal. The registration window is now closed. The last date to apply was (with late fees) October 13.

Candidates can fill GATE 2026 application form at GOAPS portal. The official website to apply is gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Registration is mandatory. Here's what different GATE status mean-

  • Received - this means that application has been received
  • Under scrutiny - form is under review
  • Accepted - means form is accepted by authorities
  • Defect status - has discrepancies in form and needs to be corrected within given time
  • Status after rectification - application status after submitting rectification
  • Rejected - means GATE form is rejected for valid reasons

Q:   What is the last date to register for GATE 2026 with late fees?
A:

The last date to register for GATE 2026 with late fees was October 13. For submission with late fees, the application form window  remained active from October 7 to October 13. The registration fee with late fees is as follows -

  • For female/SC/ST and PwD candidates, the fee is INR 1500
  • For all other candidates, including foreign nationals, the fee is INR 2500

By registering early, students can have the following benefits -

  • Prepare well for the GATE exam without worrying.
  • Get their desired test centre (as priority)
  • Avoid technical issues

Yes, GATE is a mandatory entrance exam for CGC Landran M.Tech admissions. The selection of candidates for the M.Tech course is done during the PTU counseling. During the PTU counseling round, CGC Landran will look at the GATE score obtained by a candidate to decide their admission.

No, the GATE registrations have been closed for CGC Landran M.Tech admissions at this point. The GATE registrations are usually scheduled from the month of August till October of the prior year.

The GATE itself is conducted in the month of February of the academic year.

Scoring 700 marks in GATE is considered great. It can roughly estimate around 60 to 70 marks in GATE out of 100. With 700 marks, students have high chances to get admission to IITs, NITs, and for PSUs even.
