IIT Kanpur Awards Degrees to 3,104 Students at 59th Convocation; President's Gold Medal Goes to Sagar K.V

IIT Kanpur conferred degrees on 3,104 students across various programmes during its 59th Convocation and honoured outstanding achievers with prestigious institute medals and awards.

IIT Kanpur Convocation 2026: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur celebrated its 59th Convocation Ceremony, awarding degrees to 3,104 graduating students across undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and eMasters programmes. IIT Kanpur graduating batch included 1,325 postgraduate students, 1,247 undergraduate students, and 532 students from institute's eMasters outreach degree programmes.

IIT Kanpur honoured students for their exceptional academic performance and overall contribution to the institute by presenting its prestigious medals and awards. President's Gold Medal was awarded to Sagar K. V. from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Director's Gold Medal was conferred upon

• Aditya V. (BS, Statistics and Data Science)

• Ritwik Shankar (BT-MT, Aerospace Engineering)

• Ratan Swarup Memorial Prize was presented to Dhruv Budhedeo (BTech, Aerospace Engineering)

In addition, several students received Academic Excellence Awards and other institute medals for outstanding achievements in academics, research, leadership, and overall contribution to IIT Kanpur.

IIT Kanpur convocation ceremony was graced by Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairperson of Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) under Department of Space, Government of India. A distinguished IIT Kanpur alumnus and Padma Shri awardee, Dr. Goenka attended the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by Shri Jayant Patil, Officiating Chairperson of the Board of Governors, IIT Kanpur, along with Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur.
