IIT Madras 2026: Admissions to Open for M.Tech, M.A Programs from March 28

IIT Madras admission calendar 2026 for M.Tech, M.A programs has been released. According to official website, the online application process will start on March 28, 2026. The last date to apply for these programs is April 27, 2026.

IIT graduates with a CGPA of minimum 8.0 are eligible for direct admission under dual pathway system. Other students can take admission based on GATE scores. The classes will start on July 27, 2026, and selected candidates must use the COAP portal.

Steps To Apply For IIT Madras Admission 2026

Candidates should follow these steps to get admission to IIT Madras M.Tech, M.A courses:

• On March 28, go to official website - mtechadm.iitm.ac.in
• Register with a working email address and mobile number.
• Fill out application form with GATE 2026 registration number, qualifying degree grades, and personal details.
• Upload the required documents including which is scanned copies of your most recent photo, signature, degree certificates, and category-specific papers.
  Pay the application fee.
• Submit the application.

The students must ensure that they also register on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal. The application fee is non-refundable. It is INR 400 for  General/OBC candidates and INR 200 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

M.Tech. sStudents will be eligible for upgradation to Ph.D. if they have successfully completed a minimum of 2 semesters in the M.Tech. Programme and have a minimum CGPA of 8.0 in the prescribed courses. There are total of 34 M.Tech. Programmes and 4 M.A.Programmes for which admissions will be open soon.
