IIT Roorkee and CEA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on advancing research and capacity building in power sector.

IIT Roorkee Signs MoU with CEA to Advance Research

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, Government of India, have signed Memorandum of Understanding to foster collaboration in research, planning, innovation and capacity building in Indian power sector. This strategic partnership aims to leverage IIT Roorkee’s academic and research excellence alongside CEA’s technical and regulatory expertise to tackle critical challenges in the sector and support India’s energy transition.

Under this MoU, IIT Roorkee and CEA will join hands on research projects in areas such as power system planning, renewable energy integration and resilience and energy storage. The partnership will also involve conducting technical studies and policy analyses to support evidence-based decision-making; organising knowledge-sharing initiatives including seminars, training programs, internships, and workshops; developing advanced tools and software for power system analysis and long-term planning and designing customised capacity-building programmes for professionals from CEA and other entities in power sector.

Speaking on occasion, Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority, highlighted role of academia government collaboration in achieving sustainable and innovative solutions in energy sector. Prof. KK Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, expressed pride in institute’s legacy of contributing to national development and emphasised importance of this partnership in fostering applied research and upskilling professionals in power domain.
