IIT Roorkee Signs MoU with CEA to Advance Research and Skill Development in Energy

IIT Roorkee and CEA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing research and capacity building in the power sector.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power, Government of India, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in research, planning, innovation, and capacity building in the Indian power sector. This strategic partnership aims to leverage IIT Roorkeeโs academic and research excellence alongside CEAโs technical and regulatory expertise to tackle critical challenges in the sector and support Indiaโs energy transition.
Under this MoU, IIT Roorkee and CEA will collaborate on joint research projects in areas such as power system planning, renewable energy integration, grid reliability and resilience, and energy storage. The partnership will also involve conducting technical studies and policy analyses to support evidence-based decision-making; organizing knowledge-sharing initiatives including seminars, training programs, internships, and workshops; developing advanced tools and software for power system analysis and long-term planning; and designing customized capacity-building programmes for professionals from CEA and other entities in the power sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority, highlighted the critical role of academia-government collaboration in achieving sustainable and innovative solutions in the energy sector. Prof. KK Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, expressed pride in the instituteโs legacy of contributing to national development and emphasised the importance of this partnership in fostering applied research and upskilling professionals in the power domain.
