The four-day Roorkee Water Conclave that began on March 2 will continue till March 4.  

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) along with National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee (NIH Roorkee) inaugurated the second edition of the Roorkee Water Conclave (RWC). The event that began on March 2 will continue till March 4.  The aim is to understand water security and its many elements essential for long-term water resource management and socioeconomic development. Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, inaugurated the conclave and addressed the gathering virtually.  

Promoting sustainable management of water 

The conclave aims at promoting sustainable management of water and the need for sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Shekhawat said, "The conclave aims at discussing detailed and accurate information that can enrich understanding of the causes and determinants of water that is needed to guide decision making around potential adaptation and mitigation solutions as well as promoting the enactment of UN SDGs globally.”

The institute also honoured Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, former Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), with HRED River Ganga Rejuvenation Award 2021. The annual research award recognises and felicitates those with exceptional contribution towards Ganga rejuvenation work of scientific, social, environmental, legal and financial nature.
