IIT Ropar’s AWaDH and Khalsa College Drive Technological Advancement with Punjab’s 9th CPS Hub

IIT Ropar’s AWaDH and Khalsa College have joined forces to launch the 9th Cyber-Physical Systems initiative in the Punjab region, marking a significant leap in technical education.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar’s iHub-AWaDH, in partnership with Khalsa College of Engineering & Technology (KCET), Amritsar, revealed the AWaDH Cyber-Physical Systems Lab. Established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, this initiative marks a major milestone in advancing technical education and driving innovation in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).
The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Manju Bala, Director of KCET, Amritsar, delivered the introductory remarks and extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, S. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Honourary Secretary of the Khalsa College Charitable Society, and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Former Executive Director of the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST). She also welcomed other distinguished attendees, including Dr. Radhika Trikha, Chief Executive Officer of IIT Ropar - TIF, Aatif Jamal, Senior Manager at IIT Ropar - I’M TIF, and other notable guests.
Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Former Executive Director of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), delivered a special address, highlighting the lab's potential to transform the educational landscape in the region, and spoke about the growing importance of IoT technologies and Cyber-Physical Systems in today’s technological ecosystem.
The AWaDH CPS Lab at KCET is equipped with advanced IoT kits developed by IIT Ropar, offering a 24/7 plug-and-play module for hands-on experimentation. The facility also features cutting-edge resources, including:
- Voltera V-One circuit prototyping machines.
- Gateway, BLE Development Kit, and BLE Node.
- Low Power Camera Module.
- Air Sense and Weather Pro environmental monitoring tools.
- AI & ML workstations provided by Terafac Technologies Pvt Ltd.
- Various sensors for environmental activities.
The lab is poised to play a key role in collaborative training initiatives, including ‘train the trainers’ and ‘train the students’ modules, providing both theoretical and hands-on expertise in CPS technologies. This cutting-edge facility will integrate Cyber-Physical Systems into KCET’s curriculum, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence in the Amritsar region. Serving as a hub for skill development, it will offer tailored training programs to empower graduates, researchers, faculty, and startups alike.
