The JEE Advanced 2020 is likely to be conducted on July 12 and the classes in IITs for the new academic session will tentatively start from September this year, revealed a government official to a leading newspaper.
Students aspiring for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are facing an uncertain future as the JEE Main 2020 and JEE Advanced 2020 have been deferred due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The exams were earlier scheduled for April and May, respectively, but have been postponed due to the country-wide lockdown.
Talking to the newspaper, the official said that at least a buffer period of two-three weeks is required to conduct JEE Advanced after the JEE Main result announcement. The official also revealed that the JEE Main will be tentatively conducted on June 20-22.
As the entrance exams are getting delayed and the institutes also have not prepared any academic calendar so far, the session will also be delayed and begin in September tentatively, added the official.
Explaining about the further situations after the announcement of JEE Main and JEE Advanced results, the official also said that the bigger challenge will arise after the result announcement while conducting seat allocation and counselling process. Moreover, those who appeared for JEE Main in January 2020 will also wait for the final ranks for admissions, the official said further.
Another official also stated that before the commencement of classes, certain guidelines will be issued for foreign students. They will be asked to arrive at least a month early to complete their quarantine period before joining the institutes.
