Q:   When will JEE Advanced counselling take place?

A:

JEE Advanced counselling is called JoSAA. JoSAA is being conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority. JoSAA 2024 registration and choice filling started on June 10, 2024. There will be 5 rounds of seat allotment. Candidates who are allotted seats in each round of JoSAA 2024 Counselling will be required to choose the options from Freeze, Float or Slide. Candidates who opt Freeze option will be required to complete reporting process between the prescribed deadline. The candidates who are not allotted seats during JoSAA 2024 seat allotment rounds still get a chance to get enrolled in NIT+ system through CSAB counselling 2024. Eligible candidates had to apply for the JoSAA counselling 2024 online on the official website at josaa. nic. in. During the counselling of JoSAA, two rounds of mock allotment are held to help candidates make correct choices for the real allotment rounds. The JoSAA 2024 seat allotment result is released in online mode after every round. Candidates are allotted seats according to their merit, preferences and availability of seats. The admission process for admissions in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) is managed by The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Over 50,000 undergraduate engineering seats (B.Tech/BE) will be open for eligible candidates. JoSAA dates can be checked here: Click here.

Q:   Will JEE Advanced result and JEE Advanced rank card be different?

A:
No, the result will be published only once along with your score and you're rank. If you have qualified marks then only your rank will be shown otherwise you'll not find your rank there. Because the rank is generated only for those who have qualified the score in JEE Advanced.

Q:   What is the minimum score or rank required in JEE Advanced to get into a good IIT?

A:

The definition of godd IIT can be relatable. The candidates who wish to get admisison to the first generation of the IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee must have a high score of 250+ marks out of 360 marks. However, this is not applicable for all courses offered by these IITs. Every course and IIT has different demand and seat ratio which effects the admission of the cabdidates. Hence it is very difficult to say what will be the minimum score or rank required in JEE Advanced to get into a good IIT.

Candidates must aim to score as high as possible in the exam to be get seat in the first generation of the IIts as these IITs see the most demand.

Q:   What is JEE Advanced rank list?

A:

JEE Advanced rank lists are prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE Advanced. Only candidates who appear for BOTH Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for ranking. There will be no waiting list for ranking. The ranklist is used in JoSAA for allocation of seats in the IITs. JoSAA is held online only. All the candidates who are eligible for admission will have to participate in the joint seat allocation process by filling in their preferential choices of the courses and institutes. If the aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded a higher rank. If a tie exists then a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics. If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

Q:   What is the JEE Advanced tie breaking policy?

A:

If the JEE Advanced aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: Step 1: Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded higher rank. If the tie breaking criterion at Step 1 fails to break the tie, then the following criterion at Step 2 will be followed. Step 2: Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics. If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics. If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

Q:   Can I re-evaluate JEE Advanced result?

A:

No, there is no provision to re-evaluate/re-check JEE Advanced 2024 result. The exam conducting authority will not entertain any correspondence in this regard. Therefore candidates have to accept the scores of the exam as declared by the authority as the final ones. JEE Advanced 2024 AIR will be used for JoSAA counselling in the allotment of seats in the IITs. Candidates who have secured more than or equal to JEE Advanced cutoff I. e. the minimum marks in each subject and in aggregate as prescribed by the IITs will pass JEE Advanced 2024. The scores of JEE Advanced are carefully determined by the authorities. There are no chances of errors in it. For subject-wise scores, the exam conducting authority will consider the total marks obtained in a subject by a candidate in both papers. For example, marks secured by a candidate in the Physics section of both papers will be added to determine the total marks in the subject. The same procedure will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. The exam conducting authorities will then calculate the aggregate marks/scores of the candidates in JEE Advanced 2024 on the basis of the total marks secured by candidates in each subject.

Q:   How many candidates appeared and passed JEE Advanced 2024?

A:

In JEE Advanced 2024, 186,584 candidates registered, 180200 appeared and 48,248 qualified. There has been an increase of 4479 candidates qualifying for the exam compared to last year. However, there were 2903 fewer registrations received this year than the previous year. Additionally, 172 fewer candidates attempted the paper this year compared to last year.

JEE Advanced 2024 Cutoff Marks

A candidate is said to have qualified in JEE Advanced if he/she secures the minimum percentage of marks in each subject and in aggregate, as per respective category and as per the table given below. A candidate who qualifies in more than one category will be considered in all the categories to which he/she belongs for ranking.  Only those candidates who score the minimum prescribed percentage marks in each subject and also in aggregate will be included in the rank list. JEE Advanced 2024 Counselling - JoSAA

Qualifying in JEE (Advanced) 2024, filling in choices and/or participating in the joint seat allocation process does not guarantee a candidate admission to IITs. Admission will depend on merit and the availability of seats during various rounds of seat allocation, which will be done via the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2024.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2024 has been set up by the Ministry of Education [erstwhile Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD)] to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 114 institutes for the academic year 2024-23. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 33 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform.

Q:   What is the eligibility for JoSAA counselling in 2024?

A:

To be eligible for JoSAA counseling in 2024, candidates must fulfill certain conditions. This includes getting a rank in either JEE Main 2024 Paper-1 or JEE Advanced 2024 exams. Minimum grades or percentage requirements for grade 12 exams also apply. A minimum of 75% is required for general category candidates, while a minimum of 65% is required for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Also you can be in top 20% based on your 12th standard. In addition, JoSAA participating institutes may have their own eligibility criteria for specific programs. Nationality requirements include Indian citizenship or meeting special criteria for foreigners.

Q:   What is the JoSAA counselling process?

A:
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (or JoSAA is a National Agency responsible for conducting the JEE Mains counselling process for 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST, 26 IIITs and 29 other GFTIs. So through this process, JEE Mains applicants get admission to various Top Engineering Institutes of the country.

Q:   Which documents are needed at the time of counselling?

A:

You need your 10th & 12th marksheet, your domicile, cast, income certificate, allotment letter, transfer certificate, migration and character certificate.

Q:   Which exam offers better opportunities for admission to NITs, JEE Main or JEE Advanced?

A:
Firstly admissions to National Institute of Technology are given based on the performance in examination called JEE Mains. As a matter of fact there is no other examination which is required to be cleared by the student to get admission in these institutes. On the other hand JEE Advanced examination will lead students for admission in IIT's. Thus we can SEE that these two examinations are required for taking admission in two different Sets of Institutions. Also there is no other examination that can get a student admission in either of these to Sets of institutions. In view of foregoing, we can conclude that these are the only two examinations required to be given and no other examination has any score for enabling admission in these two Sets of institutions.

Q:   When will the result of JEE Advanced be out?

A:

JEE Advanced 2024 result was announced on June 9, 2024. Candidates can check and download the JEE Advanced 2024 scorecard under their respective login on jeeadv. ac. in. To Download JEE Advanced 2024 scorecard, candidates have to use 7-digit roll number, date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format, and the 10-digit phone number that they used while registering for JEE (Advanced). Also, category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates will be available through the JEE Advanced 2024 online portal after the results are declared. Text messages will also be sent to the candidates to their registered mobile numbers. Only those candidates who will secure minimum marks in JEE Advanced 2024, as prescribed by the IITs will be included in the AIR list for JoSAA counselling and IIT admissions. Allotment of seats will be solely based on the category-wise All India Rank in the JEE Advanced 2024.

JEE Advanced 2024 AAT - Architecture Admissions

BArch program is available at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee only. Candidates desirous of joining the BArch (Architecture) program will have to pass the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). Only those candidates who have qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2024 are eligible to appear in AAT 2024. The results of the AAT will be declared on the JEE (Advanced) 2024 online portal.
