JEE Main 2026 Exam City Allotted Far From Home? What Options Students Have

The exam cities are allotted basis the preferences filled by candidates and the state of present/permanent address provided in the application form. While NTA attempts to allot a centre in one of the cities selected by the candidate, there are possibilities that exam city allotted to candidate is far from their home location. This could primarily happen when a test centre get cancelled because of less number of candidates or no exam centre is located near to the cities preference filled by the candidate.

Students who have received their exam cities at a distant place from their place of residence, regrettably, have no option but to appear in the exam from the allotted city. Candidates shall appear at their own cost at the city/centre on the JEE Main 2026 exam date announced in the city slip. NTA has clearly stated that NO request to change the exam city/centre allotted to candidates will be entertained under any circumstances.

How to Check JEE Main 2026 exam centre allotment?

Candidates must download their JEE Main city intimation slip 2026 released by NTA to know their exam city. However, the exam centre address and shift details will be available only when the hall ticket is released. JEE Main 2026 hall ticket is expected to be released on or before January 18. • City intimation slip of JEE will be displayed on screen
• Download and take its printout

The details about JEE Main 2026 exam date session 1 is availble in the JEE Main portal. As per the schedule, NTA JEE 2026 Paper 1 will be held on January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28 and Paper 2 will be held on January 29.
