JEE Main 2026 Notification Soon; Reports Suggest Exam City Choice May Be Removed

Media reports suggest that candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2026 session and onwards may no longer be able to choose their preferred exam city while filling out the registration form. Any official confirmation on this will be available once the JEE Mains 2026 notification is released at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
According to media reports, NTA is planning to introduce a major change for the JEE Mains exam from 2026, under which students may not be allowed to choose their exam city. An official confirmation about the same is still awaited. A similar provision has been observed in the INI CET 2025 registration, where candidates can only choose the state and have no city preferences. It is speculated that the authorities might also consider auto-fetching of data through the Aadhar number. This is highly likely as the authorities issued an advisory asking all applicants to update their Aadhaar and other documents before the registration process.
Under the reportedly new provision, NTA will auto-allocate exam cities based on the students' address details mentioned on the Aadhaar card. This will make the form-filling process shorter and simpler, but will take away the candidate's option for choosing their preferred centre. Many parents and students raise concerns over this speculated decision, saying it might cause inconvenience and add to travel costs if their Aadhaar details are not updated timely.
JEE Main 2026 Registration Demo Link Activated
In another update, the agency has activated the demo JEE Mains 2026 application form at demo.nta.nic.in. The demo link acts as a testing link. Candidates can use the JEE Main application form demo link to understand the application process and check the details.
JEE Mains Notification Expected Soon
The authority is expected to release the JEE Main 2026 exam notification soon. The JEE notification will clarify all the doubts and put the speculations at rest. The official notification will comprise details on the syllabus, exam pattern, exam schedule, application process and more.
