JEE Main 2027 From January 20; NTA Enrolls Around 5000 Experts to Set and Translate Question Papers
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the work of setting, vetting and translating the question papers for the upcoming examination cycle, including JEE Mains 2027 exam, which will start on January 20.
NTA has selected a group of 5000+ experts, including academicians, scientists, researchers, professionals, educators, translators, and moderators. They will be responsible for setting question papers, translation, vetting, moderation, answer key verification, curriculum mapping, research, psychometric validation, and other confidential assignments for exams like JEE Mains, CUET (UG and PG), UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, and NEET.
Why NTA Has Gathered Three-Year Panel of Subject Matter Experts
NTA is assembling a panel to develop a comprehensive question bank designed to prevent translators and subject matter experts from memorising or reproducing the questions. As part of its ongoing overhaul, the NTA has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from academicians, scientists, educators and others to join its three-year panel of subject matter experts and translators. Currently, NTA has not established a deadline for the selection of translators and subject matter experts. The Expression of Interest (EOI) remains open, and experts will be added to the panel throughout the year.
As per the report by the Indian Express, the NTA is building its own large question bank for conducting examinations. This bank will have a common pool of questions to prevent paper leaks.
Common Question Bank for All NTA Exams
The plan is to have subject matter experts and translators create, review, and verify question papers without knowing which specific questions will be used or which examination they are for. The question bank will be extensive, ensuring that neither the question setters nor the translators can memorise and reproduce the questions. Experts are required to sign a comprehensive Non-Disclosure Agreement at the time of selection and reaffirm it at the start of every assignment.
Questions to Be Selected Minutes Before Exam to Prevent Leaks
According to reports, the NTA has already begun developing a question bank. This will allow questions to be selected and a question paper finalised just minutes before an examination to prevent paper leaks.
NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2027 exam from January 20 to 24 & January 28, 2027. The session 1 registrations are currently underway at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date to apply without any late fee is November 22.
