Why Students Should Not Wait for JEE Main Alone?

With increasing competition in the engineering field, experts advise that students must diversify their options and not just wait for one exam. Applying to multiple entrance examinations will help them sort out their options, if things go south. Many popular universities in India conduct their own entrance exam such as - AEEE, GAT, KIITEE, SRMJEEE and VITEEE and offer thousands of engineering seats across various specializations and campuses. Commonly asked questions
Q:   How to crack JEE Mains in first attempt?
A:

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. Several students clear JEE Main while in class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.

Q:   Is 70 a good score in JEE Mains?
A:

A score of 70 marks in JEE Mains is considered average to below-average for General category students. This corresponds to a percentile around 88 to 91.

Q:   Is one month sufficient for JEE Main preparation?
A:
One month is not sufficient for JEE Main preparation if a student has not started preparing or have not studied earlier for the exam. As the syllabus of JEE Main is vast, studying all the topics and remembering them take a lot of effort. However, class 12 student can get a decent score in JEE Main if time after the bard exam is devoted exclusively for the JEE preparation. Since most topics of JEE Main and class 12 are similar, students need to revise all the topics and solve previous year JEE Main question papers. Start solving JEE Main mock test papers at last 3-4 days before the exam to make yourself comfortable with the exam.

The Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination (AEEE) is conducted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. It is one of the most prominent private universities. Candidates can apply for the AEEE to take admission into its BTech programme in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and other emerging fields. It has campuses in Coimbatore, Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Chennai, Amaravati, Nagercoil and Faridabad. Admissions are offered through JEE Main scores apart from AEEE scores.

2. GITAM Admission Test (GAT) 2027

Next in line is the GITAM Admission Test (GAT). The GAT exam is held by the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) for admission of shortlisted candidates into undergraduate (UG) engineering programmes. The campuses are located in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Through the GAT exam, candidates can take admission into BTech courses in specializations such as Data Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning along with core engineering streams.

3. KIIT Entrance Examination (KIITEE) 2027

KIIT Entrance Examination (KIITEE) is conducted by Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar. Similar to the other engineering exams, it is also held for admission to various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes into a wide range of BTech disciplines, from traditional engineering branches to emerging technology-focused programs. The KIITEE Registration 2027 is expected to begins soon.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is the difficulty level of JEE Main?
A:

JEE Main difficulty level is similar to class 12 board exams. Syllabus of JEE Main is similar to class 11 and 12 syllabus. The questions asked in exam are tricky and need an in-depth understanding of subjects. They need to have conceptual understanding of every topic to score well in exam. Those who study NCERT can get a decent score in JEE Mains.

Q:   How do I balance school studies with JEE Main preparation?
A:

Students who are in class 12 and would also be appearing in JEE Mains exam mostly find it difficult to manage both their class/school and JEE studies. However, all these students have an advantage over others/droppers aspirants as there are many common topics in class 12 and JEE.

To benefit, they must identify all the topics that are common and study those first. Secondly, cover the topics that have more weightage in class 12 and complete them. Before a few days of JEE Mains, study specifically for JEE. This way, they can manage both class 12 and JEE efficiently.

Q:   How to prepare for JEE Main from Class 11th and 12th?
A:
Starting the JEE Main preparation from class 11 or 12 is the best time. As JEE Main syllabus consists of topics from class 11 and 12, students can easily cover all the topics along with school. Students can begin by checking the topics that is covered in both school and JEE Main and give special attention to them. For all three subjects, study NCERT and also take help from reference books. Understand the concepts thoroughly and solve numerical problems. To crack JEE Main along with class 12, students should devote at least 2-3 hours for JEE beside class 12 studies. Regularly solve JEE Main mock test and solve previous year question papers to evaluate the performance.

SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) is gateway to BTech admissions at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) campuses. SRMJEEE is a popular private engineering entrance exam in India and has campuses across multiple locations. The application details for the SRMJEEE 2027 admission cycle is expected to release in November 2027.

5. VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2027

The VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted by Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) for admissions to its BTech programmes. The campuses are located across Vellore, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Bhopal campuses. Shortlisted candidates can take admission into Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Biotechnology.
