JEE Main Result 2021 Latest Updates: How is normalised score calculated?

NTA uses the normalisation process for the JEE Main exam as it provides every student with the same platform for percentile calculation even if a student appeared in a difficult paper. NTA uses the percentile score of candidates to award ranks instead of the raw marks of the candidates.

The Percentile Scores will be calculated up to 7 decimal places to avoid the bunching effect and reduce ties.

The Percentile score of a Candidate is calculated as follows:

(100 X Number of candidates appeared in the Session with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate)/ Total number of the candidates who appeared in the Session

Please note that the Percentile of the total score shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of individual subjects. The percentile score is NOT the same as the percentage of marks obtained.
