Dropped Questions
In the JEE Main 2025 January session exam, NTA dropped 12 questions from the final answer key due to errors (the highest number in recent years). This trend was observed in the past years as well, though in smaller numbers, where out-of-syllabus and wrong questions and answer options were found. This increased students' stress and wasted their time during the already challenging exam.
Parliamentary Scrutiny Over Repeated Lapses
In 2025, a parliamentary standing committee formally reprimanded NTA for its exam conduct, highlighting the dropping of 12 questions from the final key. The committee said such “avoidable” problems undermine student confidence and disrupt academic planning.
The panel also highlighted issues in other national exams conducted by NTA, such as CUET UG and NEET UG, noting postponements and lapses that affected admission processes across universities.

Students’ Report Discrepancies in Response Sheet
In the past, many students have reported glitches with response sheets. Some candidates claimed that their recorded answers in the response sheets did not match what they had marked during the exam. Such cases also reached the Delhi High Court, though the decision was in NTA’s favour.
All these challenges greatly affected students, leaving both them and their parents frustrated. Clear communication with proper accountability and transparency could help ease the anxiety of stakeholders and also help restore faith in the testing agency.
