KEA Postpones Option Entry as Seat Matrix Awaited
Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has postponed KCET 2026 web-based option entry.Β Originally scheduled to begin on June 10, 2026. The exam body, confirmed that web portal launch is delayed by a few days because final approved seat matrix and fee structure have not yet been released by Higher Education Department.
The KCET choice filling portal is expected to go live on or after June 13, over 2.92 lakh qualified candidates will have a few extra days to finalize their college preference lists. Experts suggest students to use this buffer time to draft their priority sequences before portal opens.
The choice-filling window cannot go live until government approves seat matrix, which details precise number of open seats across engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture courses. Authorities are finalizing framework after addressing various objections. The online choice-filling portal is anticipated to open on or after June 13, 2026.
-
Out of 3,09,014 students who appeared in the exam, a total of 2,92,782 secured ranks. All rank holders were eligible to participate once portal opens.
-
When the process resumes, students must log in through official KEA websites at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in or keaonline.karnataka.gov.in.
-
Candidates must ensure their document verification is complete to clear any potential technical blocks before choice submission.
Once portal goes live, KEA seat allotment software will process submissions from top to bottom (Priority 1, 2, 3...). It will automatically lock very first option on candidateβs list matching their rank and category cutoff.
Because of this system, experts advise students to order preferences by what they truly want, rather than what they assume they will receive. Placing a less-preferred college higher can permanently lock a candidate out of better-tier institution. Students should keep application numbers, secret keys, and a drafted priority list of colleges fully prepared while waiting for the portal to activate.
Earlier the exam body declared the KCET results for the 2026 session on June 6, 2026 and candidates who qualified in the exam will be able to fill the web-based choice filling as and when it is out.
