How are the NIRF scores assigned?
The NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) uses a score-based system to rank institutions in different categories (Engineering, Overall, etc.). Each institute is evaluated on 5 broad parameters, with a fixed weightage. Each metric within a parameter is given a raw score (e.g., number of PhDs awarded, placement percentage). Raw scores are normalised (scaled between 0-100) to account for variation between institutions. The weighted scores across all parameters are summed up to form the final NIRF score (out of 100). Institutes are then ranked in descending order of their scores.
