QS Asia University Rankings 2023: Five IITs among top 100; IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi in top 50
As many as 19 universities from India have featured in the top 200 list of 'QS Asia University Rankings 2023.
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) continue to dominate Asia Rankings of Quacquarelli Symonds released today with IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi retaining their rank among the top 50. IIT Bombay is the best-ranked institute in India as it has been ranked 40th up from last year's 42.
As many as 19 universities from India have featured in the top 200 list of 'QS Asia University Rankings 2023. After Bombay, it is IIT Delhi which is the second best-ranked institute in India, though its rank has slipped this year from 45 last year to 46 this year.
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has jumped up to 52 from 56 in the 2022 Rankings. The QS Asia University ranking for 2023 observed the highest number of Indian universities making it to the top 200 list.
Following IISc is IIT Madras, ranked 53rd this year. The majority of IITs have performed well in the QS Asia University Rankings as IIT Kharagpur has been ranked 61st and IIT Kanpur has been ranked 66th. IIT Roorkee is ranked 114th on this list.
Among Multidisciplinary universities, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been ranked 119th out of the top 200 in the Asia rankings, while IIT Guwahati is ranked 124th and VIT Vellore is at 173rd position.
Jamia Millia Islamia is at 188th place among the top 200 universities in Asia.
Earlier, in the QS World University Sustainability Ranking released at the end of October, IIT Bombay has also been selected as India's top, higher educational institution.
IIT Bombay was chosen as India's number one higher education institution by the QS World University Sustainability Ranking for its excellence in employment, social concern and environment. In this ranking, the rank of IIT Bombay has come between 281- 300. Apart from this, IIT Bombay has also been included in the top 100 employing institutes of the world.
