Tamil Nadu to train govt school students in JEE, NEET
The school education department has selected a total of 80 Class XII students β 40 from Tamil medium and 40 from English medium schools β under its residential training programme.
In order to help government school students clear national-level competitive exams such as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Common Law Admissions Test (CLAT) and chartered accountancy exam, the Tamil Nadu school education department has come out with a residential training programme.
As per a report published in The Times of India, the school education department has selected a total of 80 Class XII students β 40 from Tamil medium and 40 from English medium schools in each district. The students are selected on the basis of their previous performance in assessment exams such as the NTSE (National Talent Search Examination).
The selected students have been enrolled in model schools for the residential training in various districts. These students will be given food, accommodation, books, uniform, study material and a tablet. In the first phase, the school education department has set up these model schools in 14 districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Dharmapuri, Trichy, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Perambalur and Krishnagiri.
Classes will be held daily from Monday to Saturday from 8.15 am to 5 pm. Students will also be trained in extracurricular activities. For now, students from the biology and maths background have been selected. Those from commerce stream will be selected in the next phase and given training in CA exams.
