Mahindra University launches two advanced research labs, launched by Anand Mahindra, to boost innovation, experiential learning, and India’s leadership in science, technology, and sustainable development.

Mahindra University has started two state-of-the-art research laboratories to improve science, innovation-led education, and research. in India. The Advanced Electron Microscopy and InfraX, an integrated civil engineering laboratory ecosystem, was opened by Mr. Anand Mahindra, the Chancellor of the university.

Mr. Mahindra believes this will make India stronger in innovation and self-reliance. Mr Anand Mahindra, Chancellor, Mahindra University, said, “Every time we strengthen the bridge between curiosity and capability, we take a decisive step towards the India we aspire to build. The addition of these new advanced laboratories reaffirms our commitment to empowering talent that not only responds to global challenges but also leads India’s march towards innovation and self-reliance. These cutting-edge facilities are not merely technological assets; they are spaces where curiosity, values, and purpose converge.”

What are these Advanced labs?

The Centre for Advanced Electron Microscopy has a very powerful machine called a Zeiss Sigma 360 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) integrated with AMETEK Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS).

This machine can look at materials in very tiny detail (nanoscale). It can do ultra-high-resolution surface morphology analysis and precise elemental mapping. It helps in studying things like materials science, nanotechnology, engineering, and biotechnology.

Dr Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor, Mahindra University, said, “Our commitment to experiential learning is central to shaping well-rounded thinkers and impactful leaders. The inauguration of the Centre for Advanced Electron Microscopy and InfraX underscores the importance of our collective efforts in advancing research and innovation. We aim to cultivate individuals who not only excel academically but also contribute meaningfully to global knowledge creation and societal progress.”

InfraX – Civil Engineering Lab Ecosystem

A group of labs for civil engineering and building technology, which includes:

Materials Hub – for new sustainable materials.

iMaS Lab – for smart transport systems.

Ecosphere Lab – for nature-based solutions (linked to UN Sustainable Goals).

InfraVision – for BIM and Digital Twin technology.

GEMS – for mapping and surveying.

NDT Lab and Crafting Lab – for testing and creating.

These labs have drones, sensors, and advanced software for simulation. Why is this important? Students will get hands-on experience with the latest technology. It will help India lead in science, engineering, and sustainable development. The Mahindra University wants to create future-ready talent who can solve real-world problems and strengthen India’s growing leadership in science, technology, engineering, and sustainable development.
